That matters more than it sounds. A free consultation that is fifteen minutes of conversation tells you nothing. One that includes a CBCT scan produces the actual three-dimensional picture of your jaw — bone height, nerve position, sinus — which is what determines whether an implant is even possible.

You can take that information away. It is yours either way.

Two things to ask before you commit. First, the total cost including the crown and any bone grafting — implant prices are often quoted for the post alone. Second, what happens if the implant fails, and who pays for the remedy. A practice confident in its work answers both without hesitating.

The scan is not there to look impressive. It is used to plan the angle and depth of each implant before the day, which is the difference between guided placement and freehand.

Most implant patients are not replacing one tooth in isolation. They are dealing with the consequence of something removed years ago.

Who actually has this done

The people who end up in an implant consultation are rarely there for a single missing tooth. Usually a molar came out a decade ago, the teeth either side have drifted into the gap, and chewing has quietly moved to one side of the mouth.

That is the reason the three options above are worth comparing properly rather than being told which one to have. What has already happened to the bone decides most of it, and that is what the scan is for.
